Fundraiser for
Power San Diego

Purpose

To fund firing San Diego Gas & Electric on the November 2024 ballot.

Mission

San Diegans are facing exploitation by a relentless for-profit utility driven by profit motives. The Power San Diego Ballot Initiative is here to make the needed change, as our current situation is unsustainable. #WeArePowerSanDiego

Background

At the fundraiser, Bill Powers will present the case for firing San Diego. This is a Trojan effort. It involves two phases: qualifying for the ballot and then winning the vote. The ballot applies to the City of San Diego. If successful, it sets the stage for other cities and the county to terminate the investor-owned monopoly. Sacramento separated in the past from investor-owned monopoly PGE and San Diego can do the same in the future with SDGE.

The goal of Public Power is to chart the path of choice and to secure an affordable future for the region. The ballot initiative must qualify with sufficient voter signatures and then go on and win the vote. Ten cities and the county have adopted community choice energy programs since 2018. With your donation, the region can look to a future of responsible and affordable rates where power is delivered end-to-end by non-profit, ratepayer centered services.
